Our Grandmaster

Meet Our Grandmaster

For the last 35 years Grand Master Lee has taught Karate to students from all of Middlesex County from Edison, Rahway, Iselin, Clark and Plainfield Wood Bridge Township. In addition to the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit), Grand Master Lee adds the qualities of power (the power to change your life), strength (the strength to face the challenges of life), and health (the nurturing of self). To date over 362 students have earned the rank of black belt from 1st degree to Master degree.
Students become respectful of all individuals and learn important social skills. Adults often are bored with exercise. This gives them an exciting challenge and at the same time, teach them essential lifesaving skills in the event of a violent attack on their person.
As a student with Grand Master Lee, you and your children will become more disciplined, focused, and confident in your daily lives. You will also have the tools to reach for your goals, the patience and control to meet adversity in all its forms, and enjoy a more active and fun lifestyle. No matter if you are young, or young at heart, Grand Master Lee will guide you on a journey to a new and improved you - one you will fall in love with.
Physical Development
Besides being a lot of fun and a great form of self-defense, the exercise you get from Tae Kwon Do (aerobic/cardio, strength training, flexibility) benefits every part of the body, including how you feel about yourself, the health of your heart, the strength of your muscles and the density of your bones.
When you exercise your body produces endorphins, which are chemicals that make you feel more peaceful and happier. Exercise can help some people sleep better and help with mild depression and self-esteem. Plus, exercise can give you a real sense of accomplishment from having achieved goals.
Exercising to maintain a healthy weight also decreases your risk of developing certain diseases, including type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, which used to be found mostly in adults but are becoming more common in teens. Exercise also helps prevent osteoporosis (weakening of the bones, making them more prone to breaking in later life especially among women).
Mental Development
Tae Kwon Do encourages the development of positive character traits such as respect for others and self, self-control, patience, perseverance, self-confidence, a “can do” mindset, and a non-violent attitude.
Students learn to step up to challenges, overcome obstacles and become role models for others.
Tae Kwon Do can be a rewarding lifestyle for anyone of any age– children, teens and adults. You don’t need to be in shape first. In fact, many beginner students have never exercised regularly before trying their first Tae Kwon Do class. Of course, we encourage you to talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise program.
Tae Kwon Do can help children:
  • become and stay healthy
  • learn to enjoy physical exercise
  • increase memory and concentration skills
  • learn discipline
  • earn respect and courtesy
  • learn perseverance
  • increase self-confidence and self-esteem
  • learn to avoid becoming a bully or the victim of a bully
For adults, the variety and individual challenge of Tae Kwon Do can also help:
  • achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle
  • improve endurance, strength and overall fitness
  • increase the likelihood that you will exercise regularly
  • develop the skills to defend yourself
